Phillip Finds a Friend

Here are a couple sketches that ended my work day yesterday, the bottom was sketched from a picture found on the interwebs, and the top was fresh from my noggin. Phillip thinks he's found himself a mid day snack as he picks up an apple in the park, but it turns out he's found a new friend.

My wife, Maritza, a.k.a. Puncheon Meat "Punchy", was shocked to learn that she'd made the Faster Pussycats roster for their bout against the Derby Liberation Front, in front of more than 4,000 fans at the Key arena in Seattle...I recall her looking something like this.

I was looking through animal images on the interwebs, as I'm want to do on occasion, and I came across a photo of a fat bear leaning against a tree. So here he is as I see him...yes, that is a hat and tie.

Good morning! Here are three new sketches based on doodles from Cup O' Doodle. More may come, as I found the simple colour doodles fun to work with...but I didn't use the colours for the third one, so I'll probably take it in another direction.

Here is another warm-up sketch inspired by Cup O' Doodle. It isn't official, as I haven't been invited to contribute to the site, but for anyone who stumbles onto my blog, I'm happy to recommend Cup O' Doodle...there's always great stuff posted there by many artists, and for anyone, like me, that has trouble pulling subjects out of thin air to draw, starting with a random scribble can often get the creative mojo going.
